Technician Commitment

technician commitment

The Institute became a signatory of the Technician Commitment in December 2019

In making this commitment, we pledged to work towards the Commitment’s four key areas of:

  1. Visibility - to ensure that the Institute’s technical specialists are visible, valued and that their contributions to the Institute is visible within the Institute and also externally.
  2. Recognition - to support our technical specialists to gain recognition through professional registration and award schemes.
  3. Career development - to establish and highlight clear career pathways for career advancement and skills development.
  4. Sustainability - to allow the Institute to utilise and benefit from the full range of skills and expertise held by our technical community and to develop plans to ensure the future sustainability of these capabilities.

Babraham Institute 2024 Technician Commitment self-assessment and action plan

Since becoming a signatory of the Technician Commitment  we have been working to integrate, or further solidify, the four pillars of the Technician Commitment into our work culture; visibility, recognition, career development, and sustainability.

We have produced a new self-assessment and action plan that discusses our progress over this time period and shows our roadmap for the next reporting period. This can be found here: Self Assessment and Action Plan 2024
