We filmed the first series of 'Bioscience LITE' - free twilight teacher training events hosted by the Babraham Institute and the Wellcome Genome Campus to share the lectures as well as some of the discussions about resources.
Wherever possible we create videos of or about our outreach projects such as the CHROMOS project, our Royal Society Partnership Grant with Colchester County High School for Girls and our recent exhibit entitled 'Weapons of Microscopic Destruction'.
Genome sequencing technology is developing at an amazing pace. It is now faster and cheaper than ever before to sequence genomes, and this is transforming the face of biomedical science. In this session from the and Gavin Kelsey from the Babraham Institute discuss the latest DNA sequencing technologies and how they are being applied in the biomedical field.

Just a few years after its invention, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing is already having a major impact on biomedical research, making it easy to silence genes one at a time to see what they do. While it can introduce specific mutations into genes to find out why they predispose people to diseases, the ability to alter the genome of any organisms on earth is a concern. Vicente Perez-Garcia, part of Myriam Hemberger's research group at the Babraham Institute, explains the principles of the technique and how he uses it in his research.

Life expectancy has risen sharply over recent decades, but many people live their later years in poor health. The discovery of an ageing ‘clock’ written onto our DNA raises the promise of matching our health-span more closely to our lifespan. 51ÔÚÏß at the Institute aims to understand the epigenetic clock and the factors that affect it.
In 2018, for the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition, we developed a new exhibit based on this epigenetic research called Race Against the Ageing Clock. This video forms part of the exhibit, explaining the science of the epigenetic ageing clock and our work in this area. Find out more here.

Meet your immune army and find out how the key cells of your immune system work together to keep you fit and healthy. The video also features Institute researchers explaining how discoveries resulting from the Institute’s have helped advance our understanding of how the immune system works with important applications for healthcare and in an ageing population.
Please note that thanks to a grant from the , this video is also available in , , and .
