Hanneke Okkenhaug

Hanneke

Hanneke studied Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, before moving to the UK in 1999. Hanneke was first introduced to imaging and image analysis by her PhD supervisors Alex Sardini and Chris Higgins while studying for her PhD at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre in London. Her PhD project focussed on the characterisation of the chloride channel ClC-4, and she used confocal microscopy to establish that this channel localises in the Endoplasmic Reticulum. Hanneke further developed her microscopy and image analysis expertise during post-doctoral work at the Babraham Institute in the laboratories of Raghu Padinjat (2004-2010) and Llew Roderick (2010-2014).

Hanneke joined the Imaging Facility in 2014 and is now the Deputy Facility Manager.  Hanneke鈥檚 main focus is image analysis, helping users of the Facility extract meaningful quantitative data from their images.  Hanneke is also the main point of contact the Facility鈥檚 high content imaging platform.
